Is osteopathy right for my baby?
Osteopathy is a gentle form of treatment that is suitable for babies of all ages. There is no age limit as it is such a delicate approach. Three London hospitals even offer osteopathy to premature babies through their partnerships with the Foundation for Paediatric Osteopathy.
What do osteopaths treat?
Osteopathy offers an alternative approach to health promotion that is complementary to more conventional approaches to combating disease. Osteopaths do not treat conditions. Our aim is simply to get the body working as well as it can by addressing any mechanical issues that may be compromising it. However, this can make an important contribution to your child’s wellbeing, whatever may be going on with their health.
Over the years, I have treated babies with all kinds of health problems, from critically ill premature babies to essentially health ones with common minor ailments. I love working with babies and I find that they usually respond extremely well to treatment. My experiences have convinced me that there is always something an osteopath can do to help. Even if it is just a question of supporting them to be a little more comfortable in their bodies, this really can make all the difference!
Cranial Osteopathy for babies
Cranial techniques are especially well suited to babies because they are so delicate. Gentle cranial techniques aim to help the body to rebalance itself and release any tension that may be impairing its ability to function normally.

If you’re going to take your baby to an osteopath for treatment, you want to be confident they know what they’re doing. I’ve worked in the internationally renowned Osteopathic Centre for Children since 2004 and I have an MSc in Paediatric Osteopathy from the Foundation for Paediatric Osteopathy where I now lecture on the postgraduate course.
