Is osteopathy right for my baby?
Osteopathy is a gentle form of treatment that is suitable for babies of all ages. There is no age limit as it is such a delicate approach. Two London hospitals even offer osteopathy to premature babies through their partnerships with the Foundation for Paediatric Osteopathy.
What can osteopaths treat?
Osteopathy is not a panacea and osteopaths treat people, not conditions. Whatever may be going on with your baby’s health, our aim is simply to get his or her body moving as well as it can. However, this can make an important contribution to a baby’s wellbeing.
I have treated babies who have cerebral palsy, epilepsy, congenital abnormalities and developmental delay, as well as many otherwise healthy infants with minor health problems like colic, reflux and difficulty feeding.
I love working with babies and I find that they usually respond extremely well to treatment. My experiences have convinced me that there is always something an osteopath can do to help, even if it is just to allow the baby to be a little more comfortable. This really can make all the difference!
Cranial Osteopathy for babies
Cranial techniques are especially well suited to babies because they are so delicate. Gentle cranial techniques aim to help the body to rebalance itself and release any tension that may be impairing its ability to function normally.
